About the Author

Lynne McKelvey
At age fourteen, Lynne McKelvey won Seventeen magazine's short story contest.

Then—after earning degrees in English at Harvard and UC Santa Barbara and founding a singles club in Santa Monica for people with advanced degrees—she veered off into academia, returning only recently to writing fiction.

A native Southern Californian, she now divides her time between Pacific Palisades and Washington DC, where she dotes on her four grandsons.

Previously published works include "The Threshold," Nineteen from Seventeen: Stories from Seventeen Magazine, Lippincott, 1952; op-ed and travel articles, Los Angeles Times (pen name Lynne Hamilton); "Blume's Adolescents: Coming of Age in Limbo" Signal Magazine, May 1983 (pen name Lynne Hamilton); Program notes, Pasadena Symphony Magazine, 1991-1994.
